On August 10th IFAFRI hostet a virtual Technology Showcase highlighting solutions to flood events from around the world. 35 participants listened to the short presentations, questions and discussions from three companies and one university.
Robert Levy from Intellisense presented the AWARE Flood Sensor, which is quick and easy to install and provides an automatic warning in case of flash floods. Sebastian Lemke talked about E.Ray’s WAMO, which is able to continuously monitor water levels and quality even beyond the height limits of conventional instruments. Kelsey McDonough from FloodMapp showed how this data from the field could be combined with other data in a software tool to provide situational awareness to decision makers. Professor Shunichi Koshimura from Tohoku University International Research Institute of Disaster Science presented state-of-the-art research on real-time flood and tsunami data and modelling.
The IFAFRI Stakeholder Engagement Committee plans to hold more Technology Showcases in 2023, highlighting innovative solutions. Stay tuned to our events section to make sure you do not miss any Technology Showcase.
