The event with the topic “From Early Warning to Action” took place from November 30 to December 02 in Aschheim, Germany, and was jointly organised by the EU-funded practitioners’ Network projects DAREnet and MEDEA as well as IFAFRI. First responders, technology providers, academics and policy makers from more than 20 countries came together in person and virtually to discuss about all aspects of Early Warning.
The first day was focused on an IFAFRI Technology Showcase. Nine companies and organisations from all over Europe presented their innovative solutions. Participants had the opportunity to discuss the approaches at small booths. The exchange of ideas was very fruitful for the technology providers as well as for the end user community.
The second and third day was dedicated to key notes, workshops and a panel discussion with esteemed guests like Daniel Cotter from the Department of Homeland Security and Michelle Royal from FirstLink Research and Analytics. A field visit to the disaster management centre Haar which incorporates the voluntary fire department, a local branch of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief and a unique CBRNE unit, showed participants the current first responders’ equipment in Germany.
