IFAFRI has invited one university and three companies to present their solutions on August 10 16:00 - 18:00 CEST / 10:00 - 12:00 EST. The innovations will facilitate flood forecasting and modelling.

Agenda

  • 14:00-14:30 UTC  Intellisense, Rob Levy, Intellisense Consultant
  • 14:30-15:00 UTC  eRay, Sebastian Lemke, CEO & Co-founder
  • 15:00-15:30 UTC  FloodMapp, Juliette Murphy, CEO & Co-founder
  • 15:30-16:00 UTC  Tohoku University, Professor Koshimura

Pressenters

Intellisense Systems develops and manufactures advanced sensing and display solutions that helps modernize the military and homeland security through defense electronics and environmental monitoring systems. They have developed an all-in-one autonomous flood sensor with built-in solar power and wireless communications for flood monitoring.

eRay is an international company involved in development cooperation and they want to make critical infrastructure more resilient and disseminate solutions for sustainable economic activity. They have developed a water monitoring platform called WAMO that represents a symbiosis of energy technology, satellites and state-of-the-art sensors. It can continuously measure water levels and water quality, and also provides early detection of harmful algal blooms.

FloodMapp is an international company that has developed a system that provides operational flood modeling and impact analysis before, during, and after a flood event; as well as the ability to provide damage insights down to the level of individual properties. Their data-as-a-service products bring real-time, asset specific flood forecasting and mapping into geographic information systems to help operationalize risk mitigation, deliver situational awareness, establish a common operational picture and inform tactical decision making.

Tohoku University has been recognized as one of the top universities in Japan for education and research for many years. They have developed a functional, real-time tsunami inundation forecast technology. They are also developing a flood simulation technology.
