Recent crises have highlighted the need to strengthen interactions among the scientific community, practitioners, city’s risk managers of major crises and citizens or local communities in the event of (natural or man-made) disasters.
A range of projects funded by the Horizon Europe Civil Security for Society programme are developing tools and solutions in support to enhanced societal resilience, in particular for increasing risk awareness and preparedness of citizens to any kind of disasters and improving risk management and governance. In this respect, a cluster of Disaster-Resilient Societies (DRS) projects is active in disseminating new findings and practical information of direct relevance to municipal authorities and first responders, and a dedicated Forum on Governance of Major Risk & Societal Resilience is currently being organised to facilitate this dissemination and interactions among the scientific community and city’s representatives.
